Terms and Conditions

  1. Lessons will be for a minimum of 1 hour's duration if for any reason the instructor is running late he will make a concerted effort to inform the pupil of his estimated time of arrival. Should the delay be greater than 15 minutes this time will be adjusted either by holding to credit or extending the next suitable lesson, this will be made at the instructors own discretion.
  2. In the event of a cancellation by the pupil at least 24 hours notice must be given whenever possible, failure to do so may result in the lesson being charged at the full rate. If the instructor needs to postpone or reschedule the lesson the required 24 hours notice will be given whenever possible.
  3. Driving lessons will be conducted on a one to one basis. A record of progress will be kept by the instructor and in the pupil's progress notes.
  4. On the day of the test an appropriate period/lesson must be booked to allow for the test itself and a warm up period, and to allow collection and dropping off before and after test. During the warm up session both the pupil and the instructor will check that all bulbs are working correctly. Should a bulb blow on the test every endeavour will be made by the instructor to replace the bulb in good time, in the event of replacement being unsuccessful the school will not be held liable for any test fees lost as a result.
  5. If on the day your test is cancelled by the DSA due to bad weather sickness or staff shortages Excel will not be responsible for any fees lost.
  6. Lessons will be booked on a first come first served basis, to preserve an ongoing preferred weekly slot it will be necessary for the pupil to pre book in advance.
  7. Excel will abide by the DSA Code of Practice and any complaint or dispute will be conducted under those guide lines.
  8. Excel reserve the right to change or alter any of the terms and conditions without notice, but will endeavour to inform you of any changes as soon as possible.
  9. Excel accepts payment by cash or cheque only. Lessons must be paid for either on the day or by advanced block bookings or by pre payment of 10 hours at a discounted rate, each block booking course must be completed within 6 months, each pre paid block of 10 hours must be completed within 5 weeks otherwise hours after this period will return to the regular rate, no refund will be given after this period.
  10. Any refunds will be subject to an administration charge.

  12. It is the responsibility of pupils to ensure sensible flat soled footwear is worn for the lesson. The lesson will be cancelled if incorrect footwear is worn i.e. flip flops, high heels, large working boots etc. and a full lesson charge will be levied.
  13. Excel reserves the right to withdraw the use of the driving school car and reschedule the driving test to a later date, if in the opinion of the instructor the pupil is not safe on the given date to take the driving test or the standard of the pupils driving falls short of the expected standard required to pass the test and the instructor had previously advised that pupil that extra lessons would be required to bring that pupil to the required standard prior to the test.  No refund will be payable by Excel if the car is withdrawn for use and another test has not been rescheduled due to time constraints imposed by the DSA.
  14. All DVD's loaned at the start of lessons must be returned upon completion of lessons failure to do so will incur a charge up to the full price of the DVD.
  15. If a pupil wishes to take up the special offer discount of pre - payment of 10 lessons the minimum length of lesson will be no less than 1.5 hours.
